Scotland is a fantastic place to visit. Looking for inspiration for your next adventure? Planning a short break or trying to find your perfect wedding venue? Be it Glasgow or Edinburgh, city or countryside, Scotland is sure to capture your heart.

One of the most stunning countries in the world, Scotland was voted the most beautiful amongst readers of Roughguides in 2017. Boasting glistening lochs, weather-beaten farmhouses, medieval castles and jagged mountain peaks, this wonderful country has something to suit everyone.

We’ve put together a list of five picturesque locations to enchant you:

Loch Ness

Likely the most famous on the list, Loch Ness is home to the elusive Loch Ness Monster and the 754-foot deep lake that Nessie is thought to reside in. Look past the loch and you will find the surrounding area full of awe-inspiring beauty, scenic villages, glorious green mountain peaks and the ruins of Urquhart castle.

Isle of Mull

The Isle of Mull is located off the coast of Oban and is reachable in 40 minutes by ferry. The most accessible of the Scottish Hebrides, the Isle of Mull boasts Ben More, the highest of the Crianlarich Hills and some of the most beautiful coastline stretches in the UK.

Loch Lomond

While Scotland is dominated by lochs, Loch Lomond is the largest in Britain and can be found just under an hour’s drive from Edinburgh. Loch Lomond lies at the heart of the Loch Lomond National Nature Reserve at the foot of Ben Lomond, the most southerly of the Munros and is a popular destination for water-sports enthusiasts.

Glen Coe

Named for the River Coe that flows its way through the landscape, Glen Coe is best recognised for its breath-taking, dramatic mountainous countryside. Ever popular with walkers, hikers and climbers, the region seems like it was created to be photographed with its many waterfalls and spectacular panoramic views.

Fairy Pools

Found on the Isle of Skye, the Fairy Pools are a delightful location that look like they’ve come straight from a fairytale. Glacier-clear waters cascade down jagged rock faces into stunning pools of blue and green water, perfect for swimming – although a wetsuit is recommended before braving the icy waters!
